Philip Johnson (AP)
The House on Ash Street
Story aired: Friday, January 28, 2005

When renowned architect Phillip Johnson died this week at the age of 98, Robin Young thought immediately of Nine Ash Street.

In Robin Young's neighborhood in Cambridge, MA, there's a corner lot completely enclosed by a nine foot fence. Inside, legend has it, is the house Phillip Johnson built for his thesis while at Harvard.

You may be thinking his thesis was his life-long Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut. Actually, the Ash Street house was the model for that home.

The Ash Street house is now owned by Harvard law professor Lawrence Tribe and his wife Carolyn.
